You will need to find the part of speech and definition for each word and record it in the vocabulary section of your notebook, just like last week. Blocks A and F

Retell "Little Miss Muffet" in the form of another genre, using about two to three paragraphs. You might turn the nursery rhyme into anything from a scientist's lab report to a romance story. Keep the essential elements the same (girl, spider, tuffet, curds and whey) but modify the purpose, intended audience, and genre. Incorporate any five of the week's words.

Write a short (two to three) paragraph story using any five of the week's vocabulary words. Be creative.

French: Write out the numbers 0 through 20 in French on notecards. Place the French word on one side and the digit that it represents on the reverse side. Place your notecards in a plastic sandwich bag for transport to and from class. Cut the notecards so that all the cards will fit on your desk. It's your bingo card! You will need these in order to play the game!
Optional but fun! (Trés amusant!) is this site on quizlet.com. (The link is on the right side of the page...) Select French in the subjects box on the right side of the quizlet page. The type in the search box " French numbers " and review the groups that appear. One of the sites included the "é" over the word 'zéro'. The site was #16, MSK Burks Numbers 0-20. Try it out!

Spanish: Periods F, G and D today: On notecards, write out the numbers 0 through 20 in Spanish. Put the Spanish word for the number on one side and the number in digits on the reverse side. Place your notecards in a plastic sandwich bag for transport to and from class. Cut the notecards into smaller sizes so that they will fit onto the top of your desk. This is your bingo card! You need these in order to play the game!

French: Practice spelling your entire name in French. Remember to use the French alphabet.

Spanish: Periods G, D and E: Complete workbook page P-4 in the first handout packet that you received. You should complete only the top part of this page using numbers. The textbook page is page 7. If you are using the online textbook, you will need to click onto the left hand side of the page into Para Empezar. From there you will need to follow the odd numbered pages. You can always use the textbook for access to the numbers.
Students in periods D and E were able to use this site: http://www.quizlet.com/ and click onto Spanish under the title Subjects on the right side of this page. Then do activity #8, Numbers in Spanish. You will need to use a textbook for the numbers to help you play the game. This site is available using the link on the right side of the blog page.

French: Complete the handout sheets given from class today. Practice saying your French alphabet aloud!

Spanish: el 13 de septiembre de 2010

Spanish: Complete the handout using the Guided Practice Sheets pp 1-3 and page 7. This worksheet is on white paper. There is a review vocabulary list at the end of each chapter.
Continue to login into the online textbook to set up your account. You may need to try variations with your name. You can also use your Spanish first name and a last initial. It does work!

ELA Homework for Monday, September 13

1) Read "From the Autobiography of Malcolm X" in your red text (pgs. 632-635). It is helpful to read the short biography on page 635 before reading the excerpt.

2) In a short paragraph, explain how Malcolm learned to read while he was in prison, and how learning to read affected him. Consider how words changed this man's life.

REMINDER: Latin and Greek Vocabulary Unit 5, exercises 2, 3, 4, and 5 are due Wednesday. There is a quiz on the words this Friday, September 17.
