ELA Homework Thursday, September 2

All Blocks

Both your literature and grammar books need to be covered by next Wednesday, and I will ask you to return your textbook sign-out slips on that day as well.

"So Far From the Bamboo Grove" questions are also due Wednesday, and will count as a quiz grade. If you haven't printed them out, visit the Middle School website.

Geography: Ms Scott

Geography A Period: Five Themes Poster Due Tuesday
Geography D Period: Five Themese Poster Due Wednesday ( I don't see your class on Tuesday)

All other Geography Classes: No homework (you will have this homework due at a later date!

xc: you must have your athlete emergency forms (both sides) and your current physcial by Tuesday in order to practice. First practice is 2-3:15 Tuesday on field 2.

All Blocks

1) Cover your books and complete the sign out sheets for next Wednesday, September 8

2) Contribute to the "Thoughts on Writing" document. You should answer at least two questions, answering each with 3-5 sentences. Please include your initials and block. If you have any problems at all, you can complete this assignment on paper. Questions include:
a. Why do we write?
b. What makes a piece of writing poor?
c. What makes a piece of writing good?
d. What makes a piece of writing GREAT?
e. What writers do you admire or enjoy, and why?

Blocks A and G

Write me a one page letter, introducing yourself. The content is up to you, but you might consider writing about family, hobbies, interests, or your thoughts on ELA class. Conclude with one question for me that you'd like me to answer, such as "What's your favorite type of pizza?"

xc: we are having an informational meeting Thursday at 2 pm in the lecture hall. XC is for all 7th and 8th grade boys and girls.

English, Tuesday August 31

1) All groups, please review the class rules, expectations, and grading criteria with your parents and return tomorrow signed.

2) Write me a one page letter introducing yourself. You can include whatever you would like to share, whether it is hobbies, interests, goals for the year, or something else. Please conclude with one question you would like to ask about me. (Period 1, don't worry about this. We'll catch up tomorrow.)
Geography: Bring in a magazine that you can cut pictures out of for Tuesday!

Don't forget to fill out Orange and Pink Emergency forms to return to your homeroom teacher this week!
